Bulgarpress

Bulgarpress is founded in 1993 and is a joint venture of Axel Springer Verlag - Germany, Hachette Distribution Services - France and a local company NNP. For ten years, Bulgarpress has been a member of Distripress - the world organization of press publishers and distributors. Bulgarpress is the importer and distributor of foreign press in Bulgaria and one of the largest distributor of Bulgarian press and books.

• 1991: Start as a small private company for import of British and distribution of German and British papers in the summer and winter resorts;

• 1993: Official registration of Bulgarpress as a joint- venture between HDS, Axel Springer Verlag and Bulgarian company named NNP; Membership in Distripress;

• 1993- 1996: Increase of suppliers and imported titles in all languages; Creation of national foreign press distribution with central office in Sofia and regional centers in Burgas and Varna, Set- up of subscription and hand delivery department;

• 1996: Direct import of Russian press. Foundation of Agency in Moscow for exportation of Russian press and books;

• 1997: Build- up of own retail chain of 35 kiosks on the Bulgarian coast;

• 1998: Start of everyday road export of Bulgarian and Russian press and books to Greece;

• 1999: Direct supplies of printed products to petrol and supermarket chains; Start of national distribution of Bulgarian books;

• 2001: Finalization of Bulgarpress’ IT system for national distribution of printed products;

• 2002: Renovation of the whole retail chain with new kiosks;
